Banks
Explore Your Options for Funding Your Mortgage
You have the flexibility to choose mainstream bank lending instead of Kaenga Hou to fund your mortgage.
We can connect you with one of the trusted banks we work closely with—ASB, BNZ, Westpac, or Kiwibank. A mobile mortgage manager will meet with you to guide you through the process, ensuring you feel confident every step of the way.
Want to get a head start? Use the banks’ mortgage calculators to explore what you might be able to borrow. For more details about their lending terms and conditions, visit their websites directly.
Whatever option you choose, we’re here to support you on your journey to home ownership.
Kiwisaver
For our Rent to Buy and Shared Ownership pathways you need to be a First Home Buyer. Your KiwiSaver contributions can be used to go towards your deposit.
You can withdraw some or all of your KiwiSaver savings (except for the $1,000 kick-start and member tax credit) to put towards buying your first home. You need to have been a KiwiSaver member for three or more years and you can only withdraw money to buy your first home. For more information, go to ird.govt.nz/kiwisaver

First Home Loans
Already Have a 5% Deposit?
Finding the deposit for your first home can be a challenge, with most lenders currently requiring a minimum 20% deposit. But with a First Home Loan you only need a 5% deposit, which means getting into your first home is that much easier, and you may not need our assistance.
First Home Loans are issued by selected banks and other lenders, and underwritten by Kāinga Ora. This allows the lender to provide loans that would otherwise sit outside their lending standards.
